VTMIS PHASE2 - SYSTEM FOR NETWORK MONITORING


The System for Network Monitoring (SNM) ensures continuous background monitoring of the operational status of the VTMIS subsystems. SNM monitors the numerous parameters of the VTMIS network: network equipment, power equipment, as well as the health and integrity of the system servers. It uses polling techniques for data collection.

SNM provides report and data visualization features based on the stored data. All reports and statistics can be accessed through a web-based front end. The web-based front end ensures that the status of the monitored equipment can be viewed from any location within the VTMIS network.

SNM is comprised of the following components and features:

  • ICMP check of the online status of the network routers
  • SNMP collection of data on the network traffic
Switches
  • ICMP check of the online status of the network switches
  • SNMP information on ports status and configuration parameters
MCL equipment
  • ICMP check of the online status of the equipment
  • ICMP statistical analysis of the MCL/ WLAN link quality
  • SNMP information on the alerts and online status of the MCL equipment

VTMIS EQUIPMENT MONITORING
  • ICMP check of the online status of the equipment
  • SNMP information on the status of the servers and workstations (CPU load, fan speed, temperature, etc.)

POWER SYSTEM MONITORING
  • ICMP check of the online status of the equipment
  • SNMP information on the 220v UPS status
  • SNMP information on the 48v DC power supply status

DATA PROCESSING AND STORAGE

  • Processing of data collected by ICMP and SNMP agents
  • Storage of the collected data in a MySQL relational database for further analysis and visualization
VISUALIZATION
  • Textual web visualization of all system parameters
  • Graphic visualization of system parameters
  • Graphic visualization of the traffic load
  • Graphic visualization of the link statistics
  • Visualization of current alerts and alert logs
WEB BASED REPORTS
  • General alert report for a specified time period
  • Subsystem alert report for a specified time period
